Travel Bursaries for A Date with History, York Festival of Ideas, 15th June 2019

Deadline: 17th May 2019

For the third time, the York Festival of Ideas and the Higher Education, Research and Innovation Department of the French Embassy and the Institut français du Royaume-Uni are working together to produce ‘A Date with History’ on 15th June 2019. This year’s Franco-British theme will be ‘Fashion, Food and Feminism’ and the day will consist of three sessions at the Yorkshire Museum:

  • 11-12.30: Is Fashion Only French?
  • 1.30-3: What’s Cooking in the History of Food?
  • 3.30-5: Love and Sex Across the Channel.

The Higher Education, Research and Innovation Department of the French Embassy is offering a limited number of bursaries to postgraduate and undergraduate students studying French history and culture to travel from within the UK to York to attend this event (up to £100). Successful candidates will be expected to write a 1000-word report on one of the sessions, which will then be published on the websites of the Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France and the Society for the Study of French History (subject to editorial approval).
